Gambling is entertainment

Gambling is designed to be enjoyable. The house always has an edge, which means most players lose more than they win over time. That is not a design flaw — it is how gambling works. It is not a way to earn money, and it will not help you recover what you have already lost. Going in with that understanding keeps the experience what it is meant to be: entertainment, like any other.

You must be 18 or over

The minimum legal age to gamble in Great Britain is 18. This site is for adults only. If you are under 18, please leave. If there are young people in your household, consider installing parental control software to block access to gambling sites.

Signs that it may have stopped being fun

Problems with gambling tend to develop gradually. These are signs that something may have shifted:

- You chase losses — betting more to win back what you have lost.

- You use money set aside for bills, food or rent to gamble, or you borrow to play.

- You hide the amount you are gambling from people who are close to you.

- You regularly spend more time or money than you intended.

- You feel restless or irritable when you are not gambling.

If any of these feel familiar, the tools below exist for exactly that situation.

Tools every licensed operator must provide

Regulated operators in Great Britain are required to offer you ways to stay in control:

**Deposit limits** — a cap on how much you can put into your account each day, week or month.

**Loss limits** — a ceiling on how much you can lose over a period you choose.

**Session limits** — a timer that closes your session automatically after a set length of time.

**Reality checks** — on-screen reminders at regular intervals showing how long you have been playing.

**Cooling-off periods** — a short break, from 24 hours to several weeks, during which your account is paused.

**Self-exclusion** — a longer block, with a minimum of six months, that stops you from logging in or registering a new account with that operator.

All of these are available in your account settings or through customer support. You do not need to justify using them.

National self-exclusion

Great Britain has a national self-exclusion register. Signing up blocks you from all participating licensed operators at once, so you do not have to go through each site individually. Any licensed operator can point you to it, and it is listed on the national gambling regulator's website.

Getting help

If you are worried about your own gambling, or about someone else's, support is available. Great Britain has free and confidential services including telephone helplines, online chat and face-to-face counselling. The national gambling regulator's website lists the organisations that provide this help.
